My two favorite assignments in this class where the digital storybook and the wiki front page assignment. I enjoyed the digital storybook because I love working with pictures and I think digital storybooks are a neat way to present them. I was glad we learned how to do those. I enjoyed the wiki front page assignment because I learned how to embed videos into a website and also learned about the teacher video site. These tools will be very helpful in the future.
The top technology tools I plan on using in my future classroom are: digital storybooks, concept maps in inspiration, blogs, and web quests. I will use digital storybooks to present work in units my students have done as well as a fun way to present activities on days when parents are in the classroom. I will use concept maps because students need to know how to make them and I think that it will be more fun and challenging if they make them on the computer. I will use blogs to communicate with parents. I will use web quest to present lessons and have students do work and research on the computer. I believe these things will help my students be actively engaged in classroom assignments and enjoy school!
I would like to get better at making and presenting pod cast. I will get better at this by practicing the skill. I would also like to get better at adding stuff to my wiki and blog. I will do this by playing with it and seeing what happens. Sometimes trial and error work best on the computer.

This website has been produced by the United States Environmental Assessment Center. I am unsure about the knowledge and authority this organization has. I have not heard of this organization. The research on this website is all done internally which makes this site less creditable in my opinion. I believe this website is one sided and does not contain all the information that it should. One bias I saw was everything is about what is happening to the environment. The writers are not telling about what other factors could be contributing or how it is effecting the animals that are given the DHMO.
I am not convinced that DHMO should or should not be banned. I would have to know how DHMOs effect the general population as well as the environment. I believe that a lot of organizations go against one item and do not learn all the facts about everything that could have the same effects as the item listed.

Blog 4 Podcasting
The podcast on history was a very informative. This podcast told about the birthplace of Harry S. Truman. He started by giving an introduction on what the podcast was going to be about and where Truman lived. This podcast included pictures of the place where Truman was born as well as a conversation that the writer had with a worker at the museum. I think a podcast would be a wonderful way for students to study for test and learn the information that they need to know for tests.
The ColeyCast was a fun way for students to present their work. In this podcast the students shared poetry that they had written. In another podcast by the same group of students they told three interesting facts about each state. Podcast like this one provides parents with the opportunity to listen to what their students are learning in school. Students also enjoy the idea that people all over the world can view the work they have completed.
Podcast are unique and fun ways for students to teach their peers and the rest of the world about a topic that they are learning. I would be interested in using podcast in my classroom if I had the technology. Podcasts would be a fun way for students to share what they are learning with their peers, parents, and the rest of the world. I think that this is something that students will enjoy doing and parents will enjoy seeing. I believe podcast would be easier to incorporate on a regular basis than a digital storybook. I believe podcast would also be a great way for students to learn the information they need about a topic. A teacher could have each student create a podcast to teach their peers about a particular part of a unit and the students could download the information to study for the test. I believe podcast could boost students learning. I plan on using this in my future classroom especially if I am working with the upper elementary grades.

Digital Stories in the Classroom
During class today we saw several different digital stories. One story we watched was entitled Dear Mr. President based on the song by Pink. This digital story was a difficult one to watch because of the powerful song lyrics and the slide show that went along with it. Although I did not agree with the video, I was able to see the power of a digital storybook. Another story we saw was one made by a teacher and her class. The class did a unit on the rain forest and made their class into a rain forest. Each student drew a picture of something in the rain forest and told about it. This storybook was really neat to watch. It gave me several ideas for my future classroom!
Digital stories can be used to teach different topics in a fun way that will keep students attention. It is very important that a teacher does not make the video too long other wise the students' attention will go away. I believe I will use digital stories in my future classroom as a way to add something fun to the routine. I would also use digital stories to let parents see different work that the students are doing during different units.

Visual Literacy Video with Scorsese!
I believe Scorsese made several good points about the importance of teaching visual literacy. Visual literacy plays an important role in the todays society. Scorsese talks about the importance of students understanding the vocabulary as well as the way a story is made into a film. I believe this is very important because many times students see something on TV or in a movie and believe that it is real. Violence is also a major part of todays news broadcast, TV shows, movies, video games, and the internet. If children, especially those who live in more violent areas, are not taught how the violence in media is made and how it is different from the violence in "real life" they are more likely to try and mimic what is on TV than a child who does understand how it is made and how it is different.
After listening to this interview, I would consider incorporating film into my classroom depending on the grade I am teaching. I do not believe children need to be exposed to the violence in film until they are at an age that they can handle it!
